Job description

This role is in Corporate Commercial Banking and Credit Risk.

We have exciting projects helping streamline AML & KYC processes during customer onboarding.

We use modern tools that are AI-enabled and look to leverage more and more AI in our designs.

Drives the overall software development lifecycle including working across functional teams to transform requirements into features, managing development teams and processes, and conducting software testing and maintenance.

Specific project areas of focus include translating user requirements into technical specifications, writing code and managing the preparation of design specifications.

Supports system design, provides advice on security requirements and debugs business systems and service applications.

Applies deep knowledge of algorithms, data structures and programming languages to develop high quality technology applications and services - including tools, standards, and relevant software platforms based on business requirements.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop backend services using Java, Spring Boot, Hibernate/JPA, following secured API-first principles.
  
  
• Design and develop frontend applications using Angular, TypeScript, HTML, and CSS, ensuring usability, accessibility, and performance.
  
  
• Implement and maintain RESTful APIs and integrations with upstream and downstream enterprise systems.
  
  
• Develop and maintain database schemas and queries using RDBMS technologies.
  
  
• Ensure solutions meet non-functional requirements including security, performance, resiliency, logging and monitoring.
  
  
• Apply secure coding practices and support vulnerability remediation and dependency management.
  
  
• Translates user needs into technical specifications by understanding, conceptualizing, and facilitating technical requirements from user.
  
  
• Analyzes, develops, tests, and implements new software programs, and documentation of entire software development life cycle execution.
  
  
• Performs preventative and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting and fault rectification of system and core software components.
  
  
• Ensures that code/configurations adhere to the security, logging, error handling, and performance standards and non-functional requirements.
  
  
• Evaluates new technologies for fit with the program/system/eco-system and the associated upstream and downstream impacts on process, data, and risk.
  
  
• Follows release management processes and standards, and applies version controls.
  
  
• Assists in interpreting and documentation of client requirements.
  
  
• Focus is primarily on business/group within BMO; may have broader, enterprise-wide focus.
  
  
• Exercises judgment to identify, diagnose, and solve problems within given rules.
  
  
• Works independently on a range of complex tasks, which may include unique situations.

• RDBMS SQL (Postgres, Oracle, or Microsoft SQL Server)
• Microservices architecture and RESTful API development
• Test-Driven Development and automated testing
• System Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
• Applications and system integration
• Cloud computing, preferably AWS
• CI/CD pipelines and release automation
• AI Prompting

Working Knowledge / Exposure:

• AWS CDK, ECS, containerized deployments
• Git, GitHub, Azure DevOps
• Jira
• Artifactory
• Logging, monitoring, and observability practices

Education and Experience:

• Typically 4-6 years of relevant full stack development experience.
  
  
• Post-secondary degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  
  
• Technical proficiency gained through education and/or business experience in enterprise environments.
  
  

This role is hybrid – 2/3 days a week in the office.

Salary and Benefits

$61,600.00 – $113,900.00

The above represents BMO Financial Group’s pay range and type.

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure.

Salaries for part‑time roles will be pro‑rated based on number of hours regularly worked.

For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.

BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance‑based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
